Ashes to Ashes Chimney Service has worked in the construction business since 1979 and in 1987 made the decision to specialize in the solid fuel industry in order to provide quality care for our clients. In 1987 we became a premier family owned and operated business providing fireplace inspections, repairs, and rebuilds for all of Southern California. In 2001 we became the second company in Los Angeles and the fourth in the state (CA-04) to become a factory trained installer for the revolutionary chimney product Thermocrete. Thermocrete Ceramic Flue Sealant (TCFS) is a spray on ceramic product that restores the chimney flue and smoke chamber to fire safe condition. It is approved by the building and safety department for repairs of prefabricated and cast type chimneys in addition to masonry chimneys. We offer all three levels of inspections in addition to smoke tests and video camera inspections. Please see www.csia.org for a discussion of inspection types. The type of inspection you receive depends on the presenting circumstances. We are fully competent to advise you on this matter.
Services we provide:
•Chimney cleaning/sweeping (per NFPA standards this is recommended yearly)
•Installation of TCFS (restoration/relining of flues)
•Installation of rain caps/safety caps (the single most important thing you can do for your chimney! Keeps water out and deterioration down)
•Installation of spark arrestors (minimum code standard--keeps birds, rodents and all kinds of unwanted critters out of your house while containing large ash and sparks from starting an unwanted fire)
•Installation of gas/artificial log sets, decorative "ice", and log lighters
•Installation of dampers (important for keeping your home energy efficient and the cost of your utilities down)
•Partial and complete rebuilds, or new construction of fireplaces, barbeques and outdoor fireplaces
•Repair chimney crowns (prevent water damage)
•Repair/install chimney flashing (resolve water damage)
•Trouble shooting (smoke/venting problems-odor problems?)
•Install chimney fans to correct drafting problems

We believe that working in Southern California has provided us with a unique opportunity that most chimney sweeps do not experience, that being the opportunity to see a wide variety of situations that call for outside the normal scope of repairs. We experienced the 1994 Northridge earthquake and gained a tremendous amount of experience to add to our working knowledge base in problem solving and restoring fireplaces and chimneys to meet the new changing code standards.
